    如何当障碍车手的保护员(图)

    一、什么是保护员 WHO IS THE MINDER ?

      保护员在障碍单车比赛中全程伴随选手并提供所需以完成赛程,是选手在比赛中最重要的人物。保护员除了携带物品以外,还须了解障碍单车运动,并懂得在单车上方进入赛道,这样才能更有效地帮助选手。惟有保护员了解选手的骑行状态,选手与保护员之间的完全信任非常重要,这可令行动更加准确快捷,选手对保护员的提示抱有怀疑态度很可能浪费宝贵的时间。保护员应掌握单车机械知识,在单车某一部件损坏时做到尽快修理。选手需要集中精力进行比赛,车况在比赛中应始终保持良好的状态。

    二、保护员的任务 MISSIONS OF THE MINDER

    保护员为选手提供饮食(2007 WBC Jappan)

      保护员就如选手的“保护天使”,全程时刻注意选手的需求。选手则全神贯注于比赛,其他事情交由保护员打点。保护员的任务主要有以下几点:

    1. 保护员应检查评估赛道,提醒选手需要特别注意的难点。

    2. 保护员应检查包内携带的工具和零件,并妥善保管以防丢失。携带选手和自身所需的足够食物和饮水,最好如香蕉、牛奶早餐、水或运动饮料等。

    3. 保护员必须知道选手的准确出发时间和主要的竞争对手,并记录在笔记本上(参见建议装备)。出发时间可在世界锦标赛的前一天或其他比赛的当天发布的出发时间表中查询获得。出发瞬间保护员立即按比赛规定总时间(未记罚时)启动倒数记时器。

    4. 保护员在比赛中必须随时注意选手的需求,尽快修理单车,强制选手进食和饮水,营养和水的缺失会导致体力下降。保护员应清晰准确地发出指令,并可以事先约定一些口令。

    5. 最重要的是保护员必须提供精神和心理上的支持,如果选手不幸5罚分,保护员应鼓励选手并保持高昂斗志(每个保护员有不同手法)。2002世界锦标赛捷克站的比赛中,我和César Cañas之间发生了一件趣事,César在刚完成第一圈第二赛道时(4次触地)跟我说:“我不行了,不能骑了。”你可想象我听到此话时的表情,遂告诉他这次比赛的重要性,他必须努力比赛,放弃的话将会后悔。我一条赛道接一条地鼓励他,最后他赢得了冠军。

    三、保护员禁忌 THE MINDER MUSTN´T TO DO

    比赛过程中保护员不能帮选手搬运车辆(B组和C组的选手除外)

    1. 保护员在比赛过程中不得帮选手抬车(BIU国际技术规则允许B组和C组选手获得上述帮助)。

    2. 保护员不得帮选手拿罚分卡。

    3. 保护员不能在赛道出发区替选手排队,只有选手自己可以排队。

    4. 保护员不得在选手进入赛道比赛时接触选手或单车。

    5. 保护员不得对裁判无礼,如对判罚有异议可以礼貌提出,且唯有选手有此资格。

    6. 保护员不要因选手成绩不佳而发怒,保护员是帮助选手而不是毁了比赛。

    四、建议装备 RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

    1. 保护员可以携带一个能装下多有东西的大背包,穿着用鞋应适合各种赛道并不会打滑(最好选用和选手一样的鞋子)。服装需轻便,在夏季白色的轻便衣物可以更好阻热。另外,一副手套对在赛道间攀爬岩石将有所帮助。

    2. 保护员可以携带一个秒制倒数记时器,最好是腕带式,这样可腾出双手在选手跌倒时进行保护并有利于在赛道的岩石和坡道行走,也可避免误按手持式记时器按钮导致无法记录剩余用时。

    3. 保护员可以用小笔记本记录选手和主要竞争对手的成绩,这样可以告知选手所处位置及与对手的差距(类似GP摩托大赛的Blackboard),如下图:

    另外再配一副手套以利于攀登岩石和树干等。

    五、保护员必带工具及材料 MATERIAL AND TOOLS MUST TO CARRY ON

    保护员所带工具可以自定,有些工具是必不可少的:

    1. 4毫米和5毫米内六角扳手用于拆卸把立、轮子、刹把、防护螺栓等(Allens nº 4 and 5 to unscrew stem, wheels, levers, protector bolts, etc...)
    2. 8毫米内六角扳手用于拆卸曲柄螺栓(Allen nº 8 to unscrew cranck bolts).
    3.曲柄拆卸器(Crancks extracter)
    4. 14至15毫米扳手用于拆卸脚踏(Flat wrench nº 14-15 to unscrew the pedals)
    5. 小钳子(Little pliers).
    6. 气筒(Air pump to inflate the tubes)(我使用二氧化碳气罐充气,然后调整压力。在夏天使用手持式气筒给后胎充气相当吃力).
    7. 高品质气压计(Good quality pressures manometer)
    8. 平头螺丝刀用于拆卸外胎(Flat screwdriver like a lever)
    9. 辐条扳手(Spokes tool)
    10. 小刀(Little cutter)
    11. 胶带(Flat adhesive tape)
    12. 中号牵制绳(Medium size bridles).

    六、比赛策略 HOW TO PREPARE AN STRATEGY

      在比赛开始前或刚开始的时候,可以根据情况判断并作出相应的策略调整。除了出发次序以外,可以根据情况来决定在其他选手后还是前进行比赛,并各有利弊:

    1. 同步:有些选手作此选项,好处在于不会感觉孤单,可以看到其他选手的失误并尽量避免自己发生。

    2. 超前:如对赛道了如指掌的选手可以选择此项,如能顺利完成赛道将给竞争对手增加心理压力,对手必须至少同样完成赛道;缺点是不知道后面选手的比赛情况,没有可供参考的情报。

    3. 跟随:好处在于可以知道对手的得分,并可以恰当控制自己的比赛过程。缺点是必须超过对手或做到同样程度。

      不管如何,总有选手喜欢领头或殿后,可根据车况、雨况等调整比赛策略来决定选手在赛道的出发次序。当选手抵达赛程后半部(第二圈的后半程)时,保护员必须计算选手和对手之间罚分的差距,如果领先的话可考虑在难度赛段适当放点1或2次以避免5罚分。这样即便对手放点同样次数仍可保持领先,对手可能急于赶超而冒险。

    七、小帖士和建议 TIPS AND COUNSELS

    保护员应靠近选手观察情况

    1. 保护员必须充分了解自己的选手,相互之间的默契非常重要,最好能一起训练,能做到不用说话即能了解选手需求。保护员的错误可能导致选手的失误,当选手车辆刹车在赛道断裂时可将车搬至下一赛道,保护员在选手查看赛道的有限时间内进行修理,并记住车辆始终只能由选手搬运。

    2. 在开始一个新赛道时,保护员可以先到该赛道的记分板查看之前选手的成绩,并提醒自己的选手多加注意。

    3. 当看到岩石上有沙土等可能打滑的情况,保护员可以打扫一下并吹掉沙土。

    4. 保护员不能遮挡裁判,保证裁判能看到选手,避免用遮挡来掩盖自己选手的失误。如果遇到一位严格的裁判,在第二圈时将会判罚得非常严格。

    5. 如果雨天轮子粘上泥土,选手在岩石上骑行时会打滑酿成危险,保护员可以慢慢转动车轮并用细棍敲打将泥土震落。把套也会应雨水浸润打滑,可以选择防水把套和刹把。

    6. 如果有竞争对手求借工具,可以友善提供,这对比赛结果没有影响,但出借随时可能需要的备件则另当别论。友谊是第一位的,这也是目前Biketrial运动与其他运动的不同之处。

    7. 保护员要不断提醒选手剩余时间,而不是比赛开始了多少时间。比较合理的是第一分钟每15秒报时一次,第二分钟前半分钟10秒报一次,后半分钟的前20秒每5秒报一次,最后10秒用读秒方式报时。所以首次报时是“one minute fourty five ”(还有1分45秒)

    8. 保护员在赛道时要靠近选手,即便需要趟河湿鞋也要摸清情况,这样才能给出完美指示。冬天比赛间歇要给选手穿上外套,以保证体温。

    八、结语 CONCLUSIONS

      可能你会觉得上述内容有些夸大其辞,障碍车手不是象Valentino Rossi那样的Moto GP车手......但如果选手能得到有效保护,将安心于比赛并可集中精力。

      并不只有Master和Elite级别的选手需要保护员,也不是顶级选手的保护员才有价值。我在1996至1997年有幸担当过César Cañas的保护员,并担当过Josep Montilla(Catalonian冠军)的保护员,都以专业和认真的态度工作。

      作为一名保护员可以参与到比赛中,这对一些水平不够参赛的业余选手来说是不错的机会。如果你想为一位车手朋友当保护员,他一定会这样告诉你。

    WHO IS THE MINDER ?

    The minder is the person that accompany a rider along the competition and carry all the necesary that the
    rider could need to finish the race.The minder is the most important person for the rider into the competition. Moreover to carry all the things, the minder should be a person that knows about Biketrial and understand about to be into a section over a bike. In this way it will be more easy to help the rider. If the minder has practiced Biketrial will be better.

    It is very important that the rider feels total trust with his minder because is the only person that knows very well his riding style. More trust between rider and minder will reflected in more fast and precise actions. It is not correct that the minder tell an instruction to his rider , and the rider answers:" Is it sure that I´m in good placed ? " This situation made to lose precious seconds when the rider is playing the section and denote that the rider hasn´t enough trust with his minder.

    The minder should to know, perfectly, the bicycle mechanics. In a competition you´ll never know what part of the bike can broke and you must to be able to repair it in the less time possible.
    The rider is in the competition only to compite and not to repair his bike. The rider could to lose the concentration and he will become nervious. The rider must to feel in all moments that his bike is in good hands and, when he will began to ride it all the parts will work perfectly.

    MISSIONS OF THE MINDER

    The minder is like a "guardian angel" for the rider. The minder must to take care, in all moment, that his rider has all he needs along the competition so, the rider only can think in riding. All the rest of the things must to be done by the minder.
    Main minder missions:

    1.To check the sections with his rider and comment all the aspects of the section and remark the main difficult places where the rider will need an special indication.

    2.To check the tools and parts the minder must to carry on his bag , taking care to evite to lose any tool or part. The minder will must to forsee enough meal and liquids for the rider and him , prefereably bananas , muesli and water or isotonic liquids.

    3.The minder must to know , exactly , the start time of his rider and main competitors and write it in a little notebook ( see below in Recomended Equipment section ) . All those start times can be checked in "Start Time lists" published the day before the competition in World Championship and the same day in other competitions .
    Just in the moment of the start , the minder will start a countdown chronometer with the total time of the race programmed ( no add penalization time ).

    4.Along the competition , the minder must be atent to all that the rider needs , to repair the bike as fast as possible , to obligate the rider to eat and drink often. The lack of any nutrient or liquid becomes directly in a submission diminution. The minder will say the indications clear and precises, with no doubts . You can pact some codes to facilitate the work .

    5.And the most important . The minder must to give , in one hundred per cent , psychologic and moral support. The world will not finish with 5 points and , if your rider has the bad luck to do it, you must to support him and take care that his moral holds on the top ( evereyone of us have our own technic ) .
    Perhaps , one of the best anecdotes that could ilustrate this happened César and me in 2002 World Championship Checz Republic race .
    Just started the competition and finished the second section of the first lap ( with 4 dabs in his score ) , César said to me:" Enric , I´m completely exhausted , I can´t ride."
    You can imagine my face when I listened those. I tried to talk him about the importance of that race, that he must to do a big effort , that after the race he repent himself to throw the race .....I got to change his mind and, section by section, he got to win the race loosely and the 2002 World Championship .

    THE MINDER MUSTN´T TO DO ....

    1.To hold the bike along the competition.
    2.To hold and carry the penalization ticket of his rider.
    3.The minder can´t be keeping the turn of his rider in the section start. The rider is the only one that can do it.
    4.To touch the bike or th rider while he is playing the section.
    5.To have bad manners or insult the section judge. You can claim for a mistake in his trial but always with good manners. The rider is the only one authorized by the rules to claim so, take care with it.
    6.You can´t be irritated with your rider for a bad score . You are there to help him and not to submerge it.

    RECOMENDED EQUIPMENT

    1.A enough big bag to carry all you´ll need in the race.
    An adequate footwear to walk for all kind of grounds with no fear to slice (I think the best shoes you can use are the same that are using the riders) .
    Light clothing that allows you to move yourself without difficulty. In summer, white or light clothing will help you to tolerate the hot.

    2.A countdown chronometer, in your wrist preferably. If you hold the chronometer with one of both hands, you´ll have an unuseful hand to hold your rider in case of fall or to help you to climb the rocks and ramps. Moreover, with the hand chronometer is more easy to press a wrong button and lose the remaining time of the section. It should be necessary to get a second chronometer to check the total time of the race.

    3.A little notebook and a pen to write the results of your rider and main competitors so you can say to your rider his position into the competition and the gap with his competitors ( it should be like MotoGP blackboard ). See below an example of this notebook .
    A pair of gloves to protect your hands when you climb rocks, roots ....

    MATERIAL AND TOOLS MINDER MUST TO CARRY ON

    The quantity of tools that you will need depends of you but I think there are some tools that are indispensable :
    1.Allens nº 4 and 5 to unscrew stem, wheels, levers, protector bolts, etc...
    2.Allen nº 8 to unscrew cranck bolts.
    3.Crancks extracter.
    4.Flat wrench nº 14-15 to unscrew the pedals.
    5.Little pliers.
    6.Air pump to inflate the tubes (I´m using CO2 cartridges to fill the tube and after the air pump to adjust the correct pressure. To fill a rear 20 inches wheel in summer with an pocket air pump is very tired).
    7.Good quality pressures manometer.
    8.Flat screwdriver like a lever.
    9.Spokes tool.
    10.Little cutter.
    11.Flat adhesive tape.
    12.Medium size bridles.

    HOW TO PREPARE AN STRATEGIE

    Before the beginning of the race or when thew race has just started, and depending if your race is running good or wrong, you can accord some strategies.
    One of the most important things, independently of starting order, is to decide if you prefer to play the sections behind or preceding the rest of the competitors. Every option has advantages and inconvenients:

    1.Play the race together: this option could be decided by some riders . It has de advantage of you don´t feel yourself alone and you can see the mistakes of the other previous riders to evite to do the same mistakes when you´ll play the section.

    2.To ride before the other riders: It is a good option if you have all the sections very clear and you no need to see the others. It has the advantage of ride before your competitor and, if you play the section very well, you are transmitting pressure to your contrincant because he must to play the section like you, minimum.
    The inconvenient of this option is that you and your rider won´t know the score of the riders after you and you won´t have any reference.

    3.To ride after the other riders: Against the previous option, the advantage is that you´ll know the score of your competitors and you can “ control “ them better. The inconvenient is that if you know all the scores, you are obligated to play same or better than your previous pilots.

    However, there are pilots that prefer to ride the sections after all the rest and there are riders that prefer to ride before all. Your race strategie could be altered by a mechanical problem, rain, riders that don´t respect the start section order (in fact, they exists) .
    When you are arriving at the end of the race (second half of second lap) you must to calculate your advantage in dabs or the dabs that your main competitor has in advantage of you. Depending of the number of the dabs, you can take the luxe to put one or two dabs in a very complicate section to evite the five. Though you put those dabs, you will be preceding the score and, if your competitor puts the same dabs, the difference will be the same . In this way your competitor must to risk his riding trying to get you.

    TIPS AND COUNSELS

    1.You must to know your rider very well. If you can trian together will be better. Is very important a good understanding between you and your rider. Best should be that you know all your rider need without talk with him. Your mistake could become in his mistake.
    If your rider bike brake don´t repair it in the same section of the rupture. Carry the bike until the next section so, you can repair it while your rider is checking the section. You´ll get little time that can be very useful at the end of the race. Remember that the bike must be carried by the rider, always .

    2.Before the beginning a new section, and just when you´ll arrive there, go to the score table and check the scores of your main precedent competitors. Tell it to your rider (if you have accorded it in this way) with a lot of prudence because is very ugly to listen: "eeeeeh, rider X has made 5 points !!!! "

    3.If you see that some rocks , your rider must to climb on , with some dirt over like sand or there are any aceleration way with dirt, you can clean it sweetly. The best way to clean the sand is blowing and the rest of the dirt could be cleaned draged along.

    4.You mustn´t to obstruct the work of the judge. You must to permitt the judge to see your pilot riding. You must to evite "to cover" the mistakes of your rider placing yourself in front of the judge. You can find good manners judges but you can find very estrict judges. If you have a problem with an estrict judge in the first lap, it is sure that he´ll watch your rider very estrictly in the second one.

    5.If it rains you must to look for a large and thin wood stick to hit the wheels. Biketrial tyres fills itself of clay when it rains and it is very dangerous over the slippery rocks. Hit the wheel, turning it slowly. Is very important to protect the grips. When it rains, the special foam of Biketrial grips becomes wet and the riding is impossible because the grips slide on the handlebar.

    6.If one of your competitors ask you for a tool, lend it him with amability. You must to think that you won´t or lose the race if you lend or not that tool. Another thing is if that rider ask you for an special spare part that you could need in any moment of the race.
    First of all, friendship. Is a good luck that Biketrial, by the moment, isn´t like other sports.

    7.ALWAYS tell your rider the remaining time, not the time since the beginning of the race.
    A logic good way, more or less, to indicate the remaining time to your rider will be to tell him the time every 15 seconds the first minute, every 10 second the first half of the second minute, every 5 seconds next 20 seconds and every second the last 10 seconds. So, the first indication will be "uno minute fourty five !! "
    If you could, is better to check your time remaining with the judge time because judge time is the only one valid. If you have a wrong time, try to say your rider the time of the judge and when you can start your chrono at correct time (you can do it when the time remaining arrives to one minute) .

    8.Your rider needs you close to him, into the section, because you must to indicate and guide him perfectly. If you need to wet your feet or walk along a river, you should do it because you only see some things if you are very closed of it. If the race is in winter, and it´s cold, you must to procure that your rider wear a coat when he is not playing his bike. He must to keep a good temperature in his body.

    CONCLUSIONS

    Perhaps you think that all those things explained over here are an exaggeration and Biketrial riders aren´t MotoGP riders like Valentino Rossi, ...... If the rider has a totally trust person that takes care of all of him , he´ll ride more peaceful and only concentrated in his riding.

    You mustn´t think that only Master and Elite riders need a minder or that you only will be useful if you are a top classes minder. I have the honour to be the minder of a mitic Biketrial rider like César Cañas but in 1996- 1997 I were Josep Montilla minder (he won Catalonian Champ. In 1997) and I had my work with the same proffesionality and seriousness like with César.

    To be a minder is a good way to participate in a competition for all the people that, for some circumstances, haven´t could to get a good level to compite and they have conformed theirselves to be a Biketrialer amateur practitioner with more or less riding level. If you have a Biketrial rider friend and you would like to be his minder, you can tell it him and is sure that he´ll tell you about it afirmatively.
